Dec 22 Oh Eye!Permanent Link

Trading Eye I’m very pleased and somewhat chuffed to announce that a project I have developed for the View Creative AgencyTrackside Merchandising – has been featured on Trading Eye’s Featured ShopBuilder Showcase page.

The project had a very specific visual look, based around the print marketing, which had been designed and signed-off before an e-commerce solution had been agreed by ourselves and the client. With this in mind, Trading Eye was the hands-down winner as our chosen solution, as it’s excellent support of web standards mark-up meant we could implement any design into the framework.

A big shout out here goes to Ant at View for his excellent logo design, graphical work and also initial web visual designs.

My role was to prep all the graphics for web, hand-code the CSS, together with some XHTML adjustments, and ultimately realise the initial layout ideas as a ‘liquid layout’ HTML design … in a week ;) Oh, and there’s also some dynamic CSS in there also, to ensure the horizontal product scrolling works – regardless of the number of products the client may or may not add. Nice one Graham on that score.

‘E-commerce web design purists’ may question the fixed height and the horizontal scrolling areas of the site. As I see it, the shop ‘works’ and the design has been well received on the whole, so that’s some justification I guess.

I’d also like to thank Trading Eye for there excellent support (especially Wlad ;)). Our emailed questions and queries were always quickly answered, and responses were thorough, honest, helpful and friendly. It’s obvious these guys love what they do and, in Trading Eye, they have an excellent product which I can only see going from strength to strength.

You can see the feature at tradingeye.com/department/shopbuilder-showcase/, and you can read View Creative’s own news item on the subject at www.viewcreative.co.uk/more-full.asp?offset=&fldnewsid=56.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank View Creative for, once again, giving me the opportunity to work on yet another great project alongside a team of talented designers and developers. Cheers guys an’ gals! ...
