Marmite I’ve been listed on CSS Beauty and I’m well chuft! Big respect to Alex Giron for making this happen …

The site is getting, well, a mixed response, and I’m not that surprised as it is somewhat (self indulgently) quirky and a bit weird.

I guess it’s a bit like Marmite, in that people seem to either love it or hate it. That’s fine with me – I like to invoke a reaction in my design!

When I started to design the site I wanted to achieve the following:

  • Have somewhere to show my portfolio
  • Produce something that had personality
  • Combine my illustration with my design (nearly all elements are hand drawn)
  • Move as far away from the conventions I was faced with during my 9 -5 practice as possible
  • Build it using Web Standards
  • Have a liquid design working almost seemlessly at both 800×600 and 1024×768

It’s not to everyones taste, and the blog isn’t exactly how I want it (I’m only scraping the surface in terms of txp), so it is a bit marmite-ish in that sense, or like a scruffy 3 legged dog perhaps? I dunno … blah blah blah …

Well I like it! It doesn’t look like anything else I’ve seen, and that’s a good thing! Loads of personality!

You’re page isn’t validating. I checked the XHTML validation link below. Thought i’d let you know.

    Cheers

@Shannon: Cheers! (nice site and awsome t-shirt – I gotta get me one ‘a dem)

@xsurfer: Ta for pointing that out – fixed. It was a & amp; thing in a url.

I like Marmite a lot. Those new squeeeezy bottle thingies are awesome.

Yes. I like Marmite as well. Apparently it has all the ingredients you need for a healthy diet, so that you could actually live on it without having to consume any other food-stuffs – that’s not a recommendation by the way. Not sure on the repercussions of a diet of this nature in terms of farts and turds though …

Well I happen to love marmite and indeed this website. I tried the Marmite diet and I nearly died and I lost all my friends ... I can confirm that I did “follow through” when one of my frequent (public) parps exploded from my rear

I think that the website is great! It does seem to be very professionally done and quirky to boot as you say. Your other stuff is pretty cool as well – nice work ...
Marmite is great too but the diet sounds excessive ...

Hey! You there! Say Stuff :
