The Delat Fiasco - they're gonna be BIG

The Delta Fiasco are an awesome band! (That’s official by the way) ...

"Who? What? Why? How?" – I hear you ask. Right:

The Delta Fiasco are Nath Walczak and Nick Bentley. "Why are they ‘officially’ awesome?" Well, because I have seen them twice, and the second time I saw them I was singing along to their first track. "But that makes them catchy then, doesn’t it? And therefore, not good" – No. They are bloody great. There is no ‘catch’ or ‘catchyness’ about it. Let me explain …

Firstly, I have to admit, their style and sound does appeal to me from a subjective point of view. But both the music and performance goes beyond that initial "yeah, this is my kinda band / music". They come on stage, looking cool like, but with no fuss or pretense. The sound and execution of their music is slick and shows an admirable level of consideration and dedication to their art – which I feel is missing from many of the ‘bands’ out there ‘doing their thang’, as it were.

Don’t get me wrong here, I don’t even know the guys personally. So it’s not like they’re mates who I’m giving a ‘shout out’ to. This review is purely based on what I’ve seen and heard of them during my ‘adventures’ out in Liverpool.

The Delta Fiasco combine rousing guitar riffs, with great synth melodies and pulsating beats, and Nath’s (lead-singer) vocal is very much an additional instrument in itself. When you consider the intensity, in terms of both richness and volume, of the guitar, synth and beat combination, Nath has no right to compete. Yet he does bravely and with some guile – every note hitting the mark – every word audible and very much an integral part of the Delta fiasco experience. There’s no ‘holding-the-mic-aloft-to-great-crowd-cheers-robbie-williams-esque’ – no ‘ucking need. Any physical animation from the guys is induced by a moment in the song – like I’ve said – no pretence – just part of their music and the performance that comes from their music.

There are many bands doing the rounds in the ‘pool at the moment that are trying to be ‘great bands’. The Delta Fiasco are trying to make great music – succeeding, and the by-product of this is that they are a great band. This is the right way to do things in my book.

Hey, I’m no expert on music matters, but I’ve got a feeling ‘the fiasco’ are going to go from strength to strength. If you get the chance to see them – do so …

Saw Delta Fiasco this weekend. Wow they are fantastic - the addition of the Drummer (I think his name is Simon Hilton) takes this band to a new height. A very important addition to this band that were already great - now even better!
