Hey! Hey! Got a call of my buddy Joe at Mercy today to inform me that one of my illustrations for the Mercy Magazine has been published on the Levi’s web site (once on the site: click the ‘antidote’ link, and then the top right link)! Chuffties to say the least!
"Who / what the f’ are Mercy?!", I hear you exclaim in a rather aggressive ‘yet with mild intrigue’ kinda way. Well, to quote from the about page of the ‘showmercy.co.uk’ site:
Mercy is an arts organisation operating out of Liverpool, who aim to bring attention to talented young creatives through the artists’ own pro-activity. We publish a free, monthly magazine made up of contributions from all over the country, which then acts as both documentation of our other activities, as well as 'alternative press' and 'cultural commentary' for our target audience … [more]
For me, my Mercy involvement has been a great opportunity to ‘un-hinge’ my creative juices and really go a bit ‘lets-maybe-upset-some-folk’ and ‘oo-aren’t-I-controversial’. The sort of content that I will very rarely come close to producing in my regular every-day-9-to-5 professional practice. They (Jo and Doug – Editors) pretty much allow me to produce what I want on some pretty self-indulgent and obscure subject matters – and publish it without any resistance – bless ‘em! More of my mercy illustrations to come in further issues – no doubt!
My Mercy involvement also gives me an excuse to haul my rancid ass over to the (best city in the UK – "not maybe – definitely – she’s rude, I’d shag her and matey, right there") ‘pool on a regular basis for some banter with the Mercy boys and others.
May well be over there ‘the morrow’ (14/10/05), as their is a massive night at Chibuku on. Will definitely be over next Friday (21/10/05) for Evol at Korova to see the splendid but un-signed band: The Delta Fiasco, with my record label bud Marc.
This post’s been a link frenzy! ...
